There are quite a bit of ways an OMR can work.

  • The most common, or traditional OMR device works with a dedicated scanner that shines light onto the paper. It detects the answer marked because black is darker than white, Which lets it know where the person(s) have marked on the paper.

  • You can also find OMRs that work with touch.

  • Which means that where the person(s) marked, it can detect it by feeling over it.
